Notes
INTRODUCTIONS
- Attendees
- Akhaldi (Abdullah)

- 9 angel investments. $25k-$60k
- Also some syndicates
- And now a Saudi-based firm and now a partner (Seedra)
- Getting lots of deals now. Especially from Egypt. Second generation of founders are in the market.
- Eisengaard (Jason)
- Nairobi; founder & DAOist - runs UTU now
- Invested in a pan-africa crypto company
- Started Africa DAO and trying to do some more investments
- Ogochukwu
- 20 deals since 2019. Directly in some startups. Some syndicates.
- Invested in two VC funds in the country.
- Direct deals are $5k-$10k. Syndicates are $1k-$2k.
- More deals now, but a lot more DD as well!
- Keeks, MPD
- Ideas
- Ogochukwu is interested in the Egyptian market vs. Nigeria, but no deaflow. Lots of growth & exits in Egypt. How does he get access? Maybe Morocco as well.
- If he can’t support the startup, then he doesn’t invest
- Looking for startups that are thinking about global / pan-African in their future
- Single markets can become very challenging. Regulation can kill a business suddenly.
- Abdullah has more access in middle east
- Can we put together summaries are the business environments and sectors.
- e.g. he has directly worked with some of the founders before
- Could we refer over to Pariti review system
- They’ve seen a correlation between companies that score high vs. low raising funding
- TODO Nkechi to share some examples
- TODO Check in with Selman about process
- Global syndicates & dealflow?
- Ogochukwu is interested in the Latam region. But the question is how do you have the dealflow and How much information do you have. Crowdfunding is often later stage than what he’s looking at.
- Jason - fund structure innovation
- There’s a lot of interest in evergreen funds among Africa DAO members
- Put funds in DeFI pools and make investments with the interest
- DAO tooling support services
- e.g. Treasury management - have we thought much about it?
- Next steps / roadmap
- 33 founders today - targeting 50-75
- Be active in the DAO
- So that this activity / dealflow can feed into the shared Pando Fund & pitch to LPs
OTHER COMMENTS & THOUGHTS
- Can we have a deck reaction or commentary from members when they share dealflow.
- Portfolio support? How can the DAO help with portfolio management.
